You're going to love Livie. We call this our Grown Up Scandi Sofa, because it's just that little bit higher in the back, with the added comfort of deep seat cushions and bolster side cushions that can sometimes be missing from some Scandi ranges.
It's such a versatile range as there are so many size options to choose from, including a compact corner chaise and sofa bed too. With a huge choice of fabrics, Livie looks equally amazing in our family friendly Easycare fabric as it does in a bold matt velvet or a soft textured soft chenille.

Zara is a range that ticks so many boxes, its amazing. It has the look and feel of super generous luxurious sofa, but the proportions are not overly deep which is good for smaller spaces ( and smaller legged people too!) High in the back with a modern edged finish you get plenty of neck support from this one.

Zara comes as standard with Comfort Sit seat interiors offering the best of both worlds, filled with rhomboids of foam with a fibre wrap this gives a sink in feeling but with a bit more bounce back.

At Gem & Ginger we source and supply a wide range of gorgeous furniture from some of Britain's leading manufacturers and smaller independent labels too. To say we are a small business, we really do offer a lot of choice.
As buyers we admit to being pretty fussy customers ourselves, and our chosen collections only make it in to the G&G Family and on to the shop floor, after a lot of research, travel to trade shows and discussion with suppliers.
There are over 30 ranges in our Made to Order Collection that we have personally selected with more than 200 fabrics to choose from, a choice of different seat fillings, scatter cushions and foot colours.
Our Take it Home range is a carefully curated collection of stock items including sofas, sofabeds, accent chairs, mirrors, sideboards and console units that are all in stock and ready to go.

We're easily accessible from York, Leeds and Harrogate just off the A1M and have customers coming from all over the UK to find their Gem!
Gem & Ginger... Worth The Trip
So lets be honest, once you get to the Trading Estate, our showroom probably is not the easiest place to to find. But isn't it true that sometimes you need to hunt for treasure, so here are some clues ( also known as directions)
Enter Thorp Arch Trading Estate via the British Library entrance.
Go straight on at the roundabout, you'll pass the Estate Office on the left hand side.
Turn first left on to Avenue C and continue down this road to the crossroads. You will see signs on the left for Green Arvuyeda Spa.
Turn right at the crossroads (Moores Furniture Group is on your left hand side when you have turned right.)
Turn first right onto Birch Park and then follow the road as it bends round to the left.
Turn first right at Thorp Arch Engineering and carry on this road.
You will find Gem & Ginger at Unit 422a on 2nd road on the right hand side opposite Concept Kitchens
Frequently asked questions
Why is Gem & Ginger cheaper?
We set our prices lower than the High Street RRP simply by taking less of a mark up. By keeping our showroom overheads as low as possible - no cafe, no WIFI, no central heating! By not employing staff and not opening 7 days a week we can pass on these savings to our customers. We don't sell discount or clearance lines, our ranges are current lines and we have them Made to Order for us and our customers. Typically our Made to Order sofas are between £100-£500 less than the same product on the high street. Same manufacturer, same warranty, same product - only the price is different.
Where does your stock come from?
Our Made to Order upholstery comes from several of the leading furniture manufacturers in the UK and Europe who supply into to some of the county's best known and loved retailers and department stores. The majority of our Made to Order collection is made in the UK and comes with a 10 -15 Year Frame Guarantee. We work closely with Westbridge Furniture ( Flintshire Wales) Michael Tyler Furniture ( Hastings) Siren Furniture, ( Europe) Hjort Knudson (Europe) Tetrad ( Preston)
Some of our accent chairs and occasional furniture items are imported from the Far East and India have a 12-24 month warranty, depending on the supplier.
What is the lead time on Made to Order Items?
January 2026 The lead time currently is between 8-14 weeks depending on the supplier... all we can say is that we promise it will be worth the wait! We do have a 'loan sofa' service for customers who have nothing to sit on while they wait for their order to be fulfilled. We offer this free of charge, you just have to pay the delivery costs!
*Loan sofas are subject to availability.
Can I have a discount on showroom items?
Argh, we hate to be rude, but in a word no, or at least not a big one! Because we price our ranges so competitively to begin with we have very little room to move on price. Our showroom stock isn't on display as such, it's part of our Take It Home Today range.
Do you deliver?
Yes! We can arrange delivery for you and work with some really reliable couriers. When we arrange a delivery for you, your agreement is with the courier, not Gem & Ginger and you pay them directly, not us. We make it as easy as possible and will deal with the courier on your behalf. Alternatively if you'd like to collect from our showroom yourself we are more than happy to help you load up at our end.
Can I buy online?
Not yet... but nearly! At the moment you can pay in the showroom by credit or debit card, or you can pay remotely via bank transfer, or by credit or debit card over the phone. In terms of online, we will soon be launching our new, all singing, all dancing e-commerce website where online payment will be an option.
What happens if I change my mind?
Unfortunately Made to Order items cannot be returned unless faulty. That's why it's so important to measure and know your sizes so you can be confident the item is right for your space (and will fit through the door and the hallway!) We are happy to help with this.
We offer free fabric samples so you can see the fabric in your own room and check it against carpets, wall colours and curtains.
We do always recommend coming to the showroom to try before you buy where possible, what one person finds the comfiest sofa in the world can be too firm or too squishy for the next.
If there's a problem please contact us to discuss, we will always do our best to help. In the unlikely event that we are unable to resolve a dispute ourselves, we are members of the Furniture Ombudsdman who are able to offer a resolution service.
Which one of you is Gemma?
This one always throws people... Gem isn't actually short for Gemma! There is no Gemma at Gem & Ginger , we are Amy and Lisa and yes we both 'identify' as gingers (even if we don't particularly look it these days due the aging process!) The Gem in uor name comes from being off the beaten track a bit, we hope we aren't blowing our own trumpet, but we tend to think of G&G as a bit of a 'hidden Gem'.

Our Story So Far...
Hello! Welcome to Gem & Ginger, we're so pleased you've found us! We're Lisa and Amy; friends, business co-owners and fellow gingers.
We met in 2011, our toddlers went to the same nursery sharing a love of all things superhero. A few play dates slash wines later, we were firm friends. Fast forward a few years, more babies born and a couple of house moves under our belts, we simultaneously took on building projects on our own homes, and arrived at the same conclusion: wow this building malarkey is pretty costly! The pot of money left at the end of the build for all the 'beautiful bits' (namely sofas) had shrunk somewhat. We were left with fabulous open plan living spaces complete with a random selection of old furniture , that try as we might, really did not work in it's lovely new surroundings.
Also, with 5 children between us we knew only too well how much sticky hands, snot and mucky boys stood in the way of a beautiful new sofa. So many of our friends were in the same position, hankering after lovely new furniture but just not able to justify the cost while the children were little with the likelihood of them trashing it - yep we know that fight is real!
We were on a mission, and the mission was luxury interiors on a budget! A green velvet sofa feels less of a risk when you're not paying full price right? So after several ( pub-based) business meetings, we came up with Gem & Ginger, and opened our doors for the first time in July 2018, bringing you gorgeous furniture from both high street and top end sofa manufacturers with real savings on the retail price. We were positively gleeful about the whole thing!
Eight years on, Brexit, a global pandemic, cost of living crisis and a lot of wine later, we are still here and truly loving what we do! We are just about to alter our name slightly and ditch the Outlet part becoming Gem and Ginger Home Limited. Our business model has changed as the supply chain has changed, our focus now is more on offering customers a more personalised service with our Made To Order Collection, of which we are very proud. We are also more than a little bit in love with our new furniture ranges of including herringbone oak, mango wood and brass that compliment our sofa collection so well!
All of our ranges are sourced with our customers in mind. Prices are affordable and the quality is unmistakable. As always sofas can be seen, tried and tested ( also known as sat on, lounged on, snuggled up on) at our premises on Thorp Arch Trading Estate. We have the best customers and their loyalty to our brand is amazing, we get so many word of mouth recommendations, and if you're reading this and have recommended us to family and friends, it means the world to us and we can't thank you enough.
